If there’s one thing the west coast of the US has over the east coast, is that their DJ's just understand and grasp the fundamental principals that are key to creating a strong dance remix. One of LA's finest is Goldroom, who are no strangers to striking remixes, especially with 2011’s still very impressive remix of ‘Mother Protect’ by Niki & The Dove.
This time they take a stab at Melbourne’s own Owl Eyes track ‘Jewels & Sapphires’, with a dazzling array of deep basslines and glistening keyboard samples that dance around Brooke Addamo’s elegant vocals, taking the track in a slightly dark direction in the form of earlier The Presets work.

OSCAR KEY SUNG – It’s Coming
This isn’t the first time one half of Melbourne’s Oscar + Martin has caught my attention this year after his previous single ‘All I Think About (part 1)’, which was built around a one man James Blake type, a cappella vocal melody with minimal glitch instrumentation.
Taking on a heavy 90s RnB revival influence in the form of How To Dress Well, Autre Ne Veut or The Weeknd, ‘It’s Coming’ finds the 23 year olds' vocals, working with and not against the backdrop of traditional RnB double kick drums and single snare hit rhythms, layered vocals containing moody, yet exuberant “ahhs” and deep “ohs”. But it’s his ability to speed up his lyrics and flex his vocal pitches at the same time that’s really impressive and harder to achieve within the frame of melody than people may realise.

THE HARVEST: Albums Vol. 4
Here's how this segment works:
I'll listen to as many albums as possible throughout the week, break down buzz worthy choices and then stamp them with either; Unripe (intriguing), Ripening (gratifying) or Ripe (choice of the week).
Albums I listened to that I didn't feel warranted a discussion:
